Turmeric, the miracle cure for migraine?

Studies agree that turmeric relieves headaches

Several publications have reported these benefits. In 2016, a first study carried out on a hundred patients showed that turmeric was as effective as a traditional analgesic in treating pain.
The following year, a second study questioned these initial findings, claiming that if turmeric had a benefit on the body, the latter was too weak to be really effective, especially on migraines.
However, the beneficial effect of turmeric was again proven in 2017 by a third study which found that turmeric was even more effective when combined with omega3 fatty acids.
How does turmeric work?
According to this latest study, conducted by Iranian researchers, turmeric would have a beneficial effect by playing on the production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF). This substance, produced by the immune system, is, in particular, at the origin of the pain characteristic of headaches.
The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric, recognized in the treatment of many ailments, are also at the origin of this anti-migraine action.
Turmeric or curcumin?
If the effectiveness of turmeric is proven, many researchers believe that curcumin is what patients with frequent headaches should turn to. In other words, rather than consuming a certain dose of this spice every day, it is better to turn to dietary supplements.
These will also be easier to consume on a daily basis.
