Tulips mix: description, photo

Tulip mix allows you not only to create a beautiful flower bed, but also to make colorful bouquets. You do not need to think about combining colors, the bulb manufacturer offers ready-made options.

A mix is a set of bulbs that look best in group plantings. They are selected according to the variety, color and shape of the buds, as well as the height of the plants. The mix can be used to decorate flower beds and cut for a bouquet.

Mix tulips have a variety of shades

One set most often contains tulips of the same type, only of different colors. In total, 5 groups can be distinguished:

  • Botanical tulips. Flowers are like multicolored stars. They appear in April. The mix contains low-growing plants 15-20 cm in height. Tulips cover the flowerbed with a solid carpet.
  • Simple non-double. The shape of the buds is goblet. Long bloom, from early April to May. After cutting, the buds retain their shape for a long time.
  • Terry simple. Blooms later, at the end of May. The buds bloom one by one. They are large, up to 11 cm in diameter and 7 cm in height. Tulips up to 55 cm high.
  • Terry peony. One of the most beautiful varieties. The flowers resemble peonies. Tulips are tall, 50-70 cm in height.
  • Darwin’s hybrids. Inflorescences are large, up to 10 cm in diameter, goblet-shaped. There are monochromatic and two-tone shades. Plants are 60-80 cm tall.
  • Tulips of the “Triumph” class. Plants are 50-70 cm tall. The buds appear in the first half of May. A wide variety of inflorescence shades.

The number of bulbs in a set depends on the manufacturer. There are 5, 10, 15, 20 and more pieces. The more bulbs there are in a set, the more varied the shades.

If you grow flowers to decorate a flower bed, then you need to follow the planting rules. Plant tall varieties in the background, and low-growing varieties should grow at the edge. It is advisable to plant different mixes in separate groups, you do not need to group plants by shades.

Leave a distance of 10–20 cm between the tulips. Place the bulbs in the soil 10–15 cm deep

In the photo there is a flower bed planted with tulips mix. It is desirable that the group contains 8-10 plants. The more shades, the more colorful the flowerbed looks.

Thanks to tulips, you can create your dream flower garden. Yellow, pink and red flowers look organic, as well as white in combination with lilac and blue. The combination of peony, botanical and goblet varieties is not successful.
