This variety belongs to the group of double peony tulips. The buds bloom in mid-May. The flowers are unusual, reminiscent of vanilla ice cream. They are large, up to 8-10 cm in diameter, consist of several layers of petals of bright pink, orange and green shades. The middle of the bud is voluminous, peony-shaped, white.

They stand for a long time in a vase. The buds are closed for a long time, they open gradually, they become more and more every day.
The disadvantage of this variety is poor reproduction. Children grow back, but there are few of them, sometimes they are too small and do not survive.
How to grow an Ice Cream tulip?
To grow a group of these tulips in a flower bed, you need to regularly fertilize the soil and water the plants. The variety responds well to feeding. Plants prefer mineral fertilizers for bulbs.
For lush flowering and development, the tulip needs phosphorus and potassium. Fertilize flowers in the spring before budding and in early summer after flowering ends. Fertilizers significantly increase the immunity of plants, make them stronger and more resistant to adverse weather conditions.
With a lack of nutrients in the soil, not all buds may bloom, in this case flowering is poor.
The variety has high winter hardiness, it is not necessary to cover the soil for the winter.
You can grow “Ice Cream” in a heated greenhouse, you need to do forcing in January – February.
After flowering and yellowing of the foliage, be sure to dig up and dry them. Store them in the attic or indoors at an air temperature of at least 20 ° C. Throw away diseased planting material. Plant the bulbs in late September or early October.
