Tulip Van Eyck
The large-flowered Van Eyck tulip will beautify any landscape. This attractive primrose is suitable for both outdoor cultivation and greenhouse forcing. At the same time, the culture is quite unpretentious and a novice gardener can also grow it.
Description of the tulip “Van Eyck”
This variety belongs to the class of Darwinian hybrids, which makes it immune to most diseases and pests. The tulip reproduces well and is suitable for spring distillation for the holidays. The variety is unpretentious, but it has a drawback – it does not tolerate temperatures below –15 ° C. Therefore, in the northern regions, it must be covered for the winter.

The flowering period begins in the first decade of May and lasts about 2 weeks. The stem of the plant reaches a height of 60–80 cm. The glass is large, classical in shape, with a diameter of up to 6 cm. Its height is 10–11 cm. The petals are ordinary, painted in pale pink, salmon color.
Tulip “Van Eyck”: planting and care
For a flower bed, choose a sunny place, protected from drafts and wind, although a slight partial shade is allowed. Like any other tulip, Van Eyck has no special requirements for the soil. But it manifests itself as much as possible on light, fertile, sandy loam and loamy soils. Poorly tolerates stagnant moisture, so do not plant a flower in a lowland or wetland. With increased acidity of the soil, it should be preliminarily limed.
The bulbs should be planted in open ground in September. Landing in this way:
- Dig holes or trenches 10 cm deep.
- Plant the bulbs and cover them with soil.
- Maintain a distance of 10 cm between large bulbs.For small ones, a distance of 5-8 cm is enough.
- Water the soil and mulch with peat.
In the northern regions, it is necessary to cover the planting with spruce branches. Tulip care is minimal and includes periodic moderate watering, weeding and loosening the soil. For a friendly and long-lasting flowering, it is advisable to feed the flower during active growth.
The tulip should be dug up annually, after the leaves turn yellow. Transplant Van Eyck to a new location every 2-3 years
After digging, it is necessary to separate the children from the mother plant and dry the flowers in the open air for 2-3 days. Store plants in a dry place.
