History of Tuborg beer
The credit for founding the first brewery in Copenhagen belongs to a group of Danish entrepreneurs, the most active of which was Philipp Wolf Heyman.
In 1873, the business partners purchased a piece of land on the Thuesborg estate, a slightly modified name that gave the new drink its name.
The first bottle of “Tuborg” was produced at a plant built from scratch in 1880 and immediately attracted attention. Before that, the Danes were only familiar with dark draft beer.
The drink fell in love with local alcohol lovers, and by the beginning of the XNUMXth century, the Tuborg brand had become no less popular than another giant of Danish brewing, Carlsberg.
In 1903, representatives of companies were forced to sign an agreement on the distribution of income and supplies, in other words, to divide the market in half.
In 1970, the manufacturers merged under the banner of United Breweries, which was later renamed Carlsberg A/S.
The further fate of Tuborg beer was determined by the proximity to the harbor: having conquered the local market, the manufacturer set off to actively promote products for export. The most successful in this regard were the post-war years.
In 1981 the company organized the production of its drinks in Hungary.
The Soviet market was also mastered: deliveries of Tuborg beer to the USSR began in the 60s, and by the 80s the product turned into one of the most popular imported brands.
Since 2000, licensed Danish beer has been brewed in St. Petersburg at the Vena plant. Today, brand drinks are produced in more than two dozen countries, and they are sold in at least a hundred.
