The incidence of tuberculosis in Poland is 16,7 cases per 100 thousand. population. It is still one of the most common infectious diseases in the world, despite intensive efforts to prevent and treat it. It has always been considered a disease that affects young, poor and unsanitary people. Experts point out that tuberculosis is still highly lethal. Worse still, many sufferers may not know that they are carriers of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
The tuberculosis epidemic is currently raging in Ukraine. According to the Polish Humanitarian Team, which operates in conflict zones in Ukraine, the number of people suffering from tuberculosis there is shocking, and the situation is downright dramatic. Does this mean that the disease that decimated society in the post-war years is getting out of control again?
