Constipation is also called constipation. It is a condition that causes less frequent defecation than normal, which can lead to a number of problems with the digestive system. Persistent and persistent constipation in extreme cases can even cause death.

Constipation: the root of the problem

Constipation occurs when defecation occurs less than twice a week. When bowel movements occur less than 2 times a month, then we can talk about severe constipation, which can even lead to death.

A healthy person defecates 1 to 2 times a day or every other day.

When can constipation occur?

  • When too little fluid is consumed. You should drink about 1,5 to 2 liters of mineral water a day
  • When you eat little fiber-rich foods
  • When leading a sedentary lifestyle
  • Constipation is common in children, newborns, pregnant women and the elderly

Other causes of constipation

If persistent constipation does not improve over time and after changing to a healthier and more fiber-rich diet, then other causes should be considered. It is worth going to a doctor who, by examining the body, will give the right diagnosis.

Constipation can be associated with intestinal obstruction, cancers of the digestive system, narrowing of the intestinal lumen caused by various factors, arsenic and lead poisoning in the case of taking certain medications. Constipation can also occur in people who are overly nervous and stressed, also as a functional symptom of depression and anxiety disorders.

Very often, constipation also occurs when a disturbed defecation reflex is created. This problem arises when defecation is often avoided during the urge to defecate. When returning to the natural process of bowel movements, always respond to your body’s signs and drink more water. The use of laxatives may also be helpful.

Treating constipation:

  • Eating more fiber, including bran, dark bread
  • Drinking more water, including green tea or cleansing herbs
  • Not underestimating the urge to stool
  • Assistance with laxatives in more severe cases
  • Doing sports, taking physical effort
  • Exclusion from the diet of heavy-digestible products and foods, fried, carbohydrates and animal fats. You should also give up products containing white flour
  • It is worth including healthy fruits and vegetables in your diet, fruit cocktails
  • Eat slowly, chewing each bite thoroughly. You must not eat in a hurry and under stress
  • It is worth taking care of your well-being by reducing stress and negative emotions, which can also affect the formation of constipation
