Trigonometric function: Tangent of an angle (tg)
Content

Definition

Acute angle tangent α (tg α or tan α) is the ratio of the opposite leg (a) to the adjacent (b) in a right triangle.

tg α = a / b

Trigonometric function: Tangent of an angle (tg)

For example:

a = 3

b = 4

tg α = a / b = 3 / 4 = 0.75

The graph is tangent

The tangent function is written as y = tg (x). The chart in general looks like this:

Tangent derivativeIntegral tangentEuler formulaОбратная к тангенсу функция

– это обратная функция к тангенсу x, где x – любое число (x∈ℝ).

Если тангенс угла у равняется х (tg y = x), значит арктангенс x равен у:

arctg x = tg-1 x = y

Например:

arctg 1 = tg-1 1 = 45° = π/4 рад
