Tribux forte – composition and mode of action

The active substance of Tribux forte is trimebutin maleate (1 tablet contains 200 mg of this substance). Trimebutin is a synthetic antagonist of peripheral µ, δ and κ opioid receptors.

The active substance works by acting directly on smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract and regulating motor dysfunction without affecting the central nervous system. This substance normalizes the motility of the gastrointestinal tract.

It works by binding to peripheral opioid receptors, namely enkephalin receptors in the gut wall. The action of Tribux forte depends on the functional state of the digestive system.

Trimebutin acts on two different types of opioid receptors and may stimulate or inhibit gastrointestinal motility.

Peak plasma levels of trimebutin occur approximately 30 minutes after oral administration, after which the compound is mainly excreted in the urine.

In addition to the active substance, Tribux forte consists of auxiliary substances, including: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, crospovidone and magnesium stearate.

Tribux forte – dosage and method of taking

Tribux forte, like any other medicine, should be used according to the doctor’s instructions or according to the instructions provided on the package leaflet.

The drug is taken orally before a meal and washed down with a large amount of water. The dosage of the drug depends on the age of the patient and the condition being treated.

Adults suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome should take half a Tribux forte tablet (100 mg) three times a day before meals. In some cases, your doctor may increase your dose to a maximum of 600 mg per day, using several smaller doses.

For adults with gastrointestinal and biliary disorders, the dosage regimen depends on the symptoms associated with these conditions.

Tribux forte dose in the case of diarrhea or constipation should be 200 mg (1 tablet) before eating, 1 or 2 times a day. However, if the diseases are accompanied by abdominal pain or intestinal cramps, the recommended dose is 100 mg (half a tablet) 3 times a day, taken before meals.
