Treatment of thrush in newborns

Thrush, or candidiasis, is common in children under 6 months of age. Especially often, the infection affects babies who are breastfed. White plaque on the tongue, gums and the inside of the cheeks causes discomfort in the child, and therefore thrush should be treated at the first signs of its appearance. One of the most effective remedies for infant candidiasis is Vinilin, or Shostakovsky’s balm. The medicine helps to cope with painful sensations, relieves inflammation and quickly heals wounds on the oral mucosa.

For the treatment of thrush in infants, you need to moisten a cotton swab or a sterile gauze swab in balm and carefully remove the white plaque from the tongue, gums and the inside of the crumbs of the cheeks. The procedure should be carried out 2-3 times a day between feedings until plaque and redness on the oral mucosa disappear completely. As a rule, recovery occurs already on the second or third day.

When using Vinilin in infants, it is important to strictly observe the dosage. It is necessary to literally apply a drop of balm on a cotton swab so that during the treatment of the oral cavity there are no surpluses that the baby could swallow

Treatment with “Vinilin” for stomatitis

Stomatitis, unlike thrush, occurs more often in children over the age of six months. Painful, yellowish sores in the mouth are often accompanied by fever, decreased appetite, and severe pain. Stomatitis should be treated with Vinilin 4–6 times a day, applying the balm exclusively to the ulcers and trying not to get it on healthy mucous membranes. It is better to carry out the procedure 15–20 minutes before feeding the baby, so that the medicine has time to be absorbed and anesthetize the wounds. In this case, food intake for the child will be less painful. Recovery in the treatment of stomatitis with Vinilin usually occurs within 4–5 days.

Precautions when using “Vinilin”

Despite the fact that Vinilin is generally well tolerated by children of any age, it is important to ensure that the baby does not develop an individual negative reaction to the drug. The risk is especially high in children with allergies, and therefore the balm can be used only after consulting a doctor and in a minimum dosage.
