Even in ancient times, it was noticed that cyclamen effectively helps to cure sinusitis. The experience of the ancient Aesculapius was adopted by modern pharmacologists, actively using the healing properties of this perennial to create medicines that help treat inflammatory processes in the upper respiratory tract, which are significantly aggravated with the onset of autumn cold. And sinusitis holds the palm among them.
When the disease proceeds in an acute form, medicines with an antibacterial effect are successfully used to treat it. If the process has passed into the chronic stage, then along with large material and time costs, a very weak healing effect is observed.
What is cyclamen?
Cyclamen is one of the representatives of perennial herbaceous plants. Came to us from the Mediterranean and Asia Minor, but took root well here. Cyclamine and saponins, abundant in plant tubers, normalize the hormonal environment, improve the reflex secretion of mucous membranes, producing an irritating effect, helping them to regenerate and self-cleanse faster, have a calming effect and the ability to counteract inflammatory processes.
Poisonous substances can accumulate in the flowers of the plant. Therefore, the use of drugs based on it requires careful attention to dosing. In case of an overdose, the occurrence of vomiting, convulsions, allergic reactions, malfunctions of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems is often noted.
Using folk recipes based on cyclamen, you can successfully treat a runny nose, sinusitis, sinusitis, adenoids, nasal polyps, arthritis, and headaches.
The process of growing a plant at home will not cause great difficulties. On the basis of crushed tubers, you can make all kinds of drops, tinctures, decoctions and ointments.
Methods for preparing medicines from cyclamen:
Drops. To make drops, you need to take the cyclamen root pre-washed in running water and grind it with a grater. The juice formed after straining the resulting mass, dilute with water and put in the fridge to infuse.
When the solution is ready, instill 2 drops in each nostril every morning for a week. After the procedure, it is recommended to lie down for ten minutes. Getting up, drink honey herbal decoction. On the second or third day, the results will not keep you waiting.
The advantages of this method of treatment are obvious – the positive effect becomes noticeable rather quickly. The disadvantages include the fact that it is very likely the occurrence of allergic reactions, accompanied by burning and pain in the nose, coughing, sneezing and increased sweating. With a slight manifestation of such symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor!
Ointment. Juice from the roots of cyclamen is widely used as the basis for the manufacture of ointments for sinusitis. In this case, it is mixed with aloe juice, onion, Kalanchoe and Vishnevsky ointment. The resulting substance is coated with cotton or gauze swabs and placed in the nostrils for 30-40 minutes every day. The course of treatment continues for three weeks.
Infusion. The proportions for cyclamen tincture should be as follows: two grams of crushed root are poured into 100 ml of boiling water and aged for an hour. Next, one teaspoon of the resulting infusion is diluted in a liter of boiling water and 4-5 times a day for a week, two drops are instilled into each nasal passage.
Pharmacy. If for some reason it was not possible to acquire the root of the plant, then the drug “Sinuforte” will come to the rescue, made in the form of a spray, which can be bought in almost every pharmacy (Unfortunately, the drug is expensive, and this medicine will last you for 7 days). It well cleanses the nasal cavity from the fluid formed there, thinning the pus and reducing the swelling of the mucous membrane, which, as a rule, quickly leads to recovery. During the course of treatment, lasting 7 days, 2-3 injections are made daily. If you strictly adhere to such a treatment regimen, then you can achieve a stable remission and forget about sinusitis for a long time.
Contraindications for the use of cyclamen
Due to the poisonous properties of the plant, it should be used only after prior consultation with a qualified doctor and without neglecting safety measures. Exclude the use of drugs based on cyclamen by young children, pregnant women and nursing mothers.
In order to avoid the occurrence of negative consequences for the body and irreparable deterioration in health, it is imperative to undergo tests for allergic compatibility with the active ingredients contained in the plant.
