Treatment of Paget’s disease

Treatment of Paget’s disease

Treatment is reserved for painful or complicated forms of the disease and is based on:

– bisphosphonates (alendronate, pamidronate, tiludronate): they are opposed to bone destruction. They make it possible to act on the symptoms of the disease and to slow down its progression.

– analgesics: are prescribed in case of bone or joint pain (aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)

– orthopedic surgery can be useful to treat the joint complications of the disease (placement of prostheses)
