Treatment for a child’s throat. Video
In autumn and winter, the number of colds increases, especially among children. Huge queues at clinics not only take up a lot of time, but can also be dangerous. In them, the weakened body is at risk of infection with something else from other patients, so some parents prefer to use traditional methods to treat colds, such as pain and sore throat.
Angina – a reason to see a doctor
There are many alternative methods for treating throat in children, but before using any of them, remember that with severe sore throat, accompanied by a high fever, it is better not to self-medicate. Angina is not such a harmless disease, and it must be treated carefully. And if the patient’s condition worsens, as they say, before our eyes, the tonsils are inflamed and enlarged so much that it becomes difficult for the child to swallow, breathe and talk, in no case should he hesitate and you should definitely consult a doctor to select the necessary medications.
For minor sore throats, you can also resort to the secrets of traditional medicine. If a child comes, for example, from school and complains of a slight malaise, his voice is hoarse, and when swallowing there is a slight pain, the first thing you can offer him is warm milk with honey. This tasty drink will soften the sore throat, but the following drink will be much more effective: chop the onion finely, boil it for a couple of minutes in boiling milk, cool to room temperature, strain and only then add a teaspoon of natural honey. Milk can be replaced with plain water. Or prepare diluted lemon juice flavored with the same honey. Any of these drinks should be drunk 2-3 times a day, slowly, in small sips.
It is better to cook drinking from onions with milk in the absence of a child, otherwise he may refuse to drink it without even trying
Warm compresses for the throat can alleviate the condition of the child, or, on the contrary, can cause the disease to worsen, especially if a purulent process has begun in the tonsils. A cold compress will be much better in effect. For example, curd. In this case, it is necessary to put the patient in a warm bed, make a compress on the throat of cool cottage cheese and give out a mug of hot tea. The cold will reduce tissue swelling, relieve pain and make swallowing easier. A warm drink will wash away mucus from diseased tonsils.
After setting the compress, be sure to ask the child about his health. If he does not like his sensations, it is better to remove the compress.
The effectiveness of the traditional method of treating the throat by gargling is not recognized by all doctors. They have no effect on the inflammatory process occurring in the depths of the tissues, but they do not bring harm either, and for some patients it immediately becomes easier to breathe and swallow. If the child already knows how to gargle, you can give him chamomile or sage tea, a weak solution of table salt, and lemon juice diluted with warm water every one and a half to two hours.
