Tramadol is a powerful drug used in orthopedics and rheumatology to relieve severe and chronic pain. The preparation acts on the central nervous system and has analgesic properties. Tramadol is available as capsules and drops and is available with a prescription.

Indications for use of the drug Tramadol
The active substance of the drug is tramadol hydrochloride, a synthetic opioid drug. The preparation is used in the treatment of moderate to severe pain. The preparation should be used orally. The doctor individually adjusts the dosage depending on the intensity of the pain.
Dosage of the drug Tramadol
Adults, including the elderly and children over 14 years of age: a single dose of 50 mg (1 capsule or 20 drops), if the pain does not stop within 30-60 minutes, the dose can be repeated. Usually 50 mg every 6 hours is used; the maximum dose is 400 mg / day. Your doctor may prescribe a different dosing regimen to treat chronic and cancer pain.
Tramadol and contraindications
Contraindications to the use of the drug are:
- hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation or other opioid analgesics,
- acute intoxication with alcohol, hypnotics, centrally acting analgesics, including opioids or psychotropic drugs,
- epilepsy that does not respond to treatment
- simultaneous use of MAO inhibitors (tramadol should not be used during and 14 days after treatment with MAO inhibitors),
- treatment of opioid dependence.
Due to the lack of data, it is not recommended to use the preparation during pregnancy.
During long-term use of the preparation, you should not breast-feed, there is no need to stop feeding because of a single administration of the drug.
Tramadol – warnings
Do not drive or operate machinery while using the preparation.
The use of tramadol may lead to addiction (a strong need for continuous delivery of substances to the body) and the development of tolerance (the need to use higher and higher doses of the drug to achieve the same effect). When using the drug in patients prone to drug abuse or addiction, treatment should be carried out for a short time under close medical supervision.
