Toxicologist on a new drug: “it can kill on the first use”

A few days ago, the media reported that etazene appeared in Poland – a new drug that is 60 times stronger than morphine. Etazen inhibits the respiratory system in the brain, so it can kill the first time it is used, says toxicologist Eryk Matuszkiewicz, who was Beata Tadla’s guest in the Onet Rano program today.

As Eryk Matuszkiewicz explained, etazen is a new drug from the group of designer drugs. It has a stimulating and psychoactive effect, so it can find a wide audience.

– Morphine was the first to be introduced to the market as the first opioid agent and all subsequent drugs are compared with it. Etazen, which belongs to the so-called designer drugs – 60 times stronger than morphine – explained the toxicologist in an interview with Beata Tadla.

Etazen is in the form of a gray-violet powder, it is absorbed through the nasal mucosa, because in this form it is absorbed the fastest. It can also be in the form of a spray that looks like nasal drops. It is also distributed as a liquid for e-cigarettes – explained Matuszkiewicz.

Can etazen kill on the first admission?

As Eryk Matuszkiewicz argued, death is possible even after one use of etazene. – It works quite strongly on the respiratory system, on the center in the brain responsible for breathing, it can inhibit this center for as long as it works – explained the toxicologist. – And as little as 4 minutes of hypoxia leads to cardiac arrest and death. So yes, it can kill the first time – warned Beata Tadla’s guest.
