Toxic headaches resulting from acute or chronic poisoning of the body with chemicals (e.g. solids, liquids, gases) are usually headaches caused by severe poisoning with carbon monoxide, benzene, nitrobenzene (varnishes, paints), toluene, hydrogen sulfide, ethyl alcohol or methyl, nicotine and in chronic lead poisoning.

What causes toxic headaches?

Chronic, toxic headaches often occur as a result of taking an excess of painkillers. The chemical composition of these preparations is such that they can cause headaches as a consequence of addiction. Patients, thinking that the medications they take are ineffective, increase the doses on their own and thus aggravate the state of chronic poisoning, causing the symptoms to worsen.

Mental disorders are also very common, e.g .:

  1. apathy,
  2. lack of will,
  3. tiredness,
  4. depression,
  5. memory impairment,
  6. less often, sex drive disorders.

Therefore, the indiscriminate and long-term use of analgesics should be avoided.
