This second book in the Vesta-Linnea series was nominated for the best children’s book in Finland in 2008. This time, Vesta-Linnea, an ordinary girl with an unusual name, can’t sleep. Still, because in a dream there is a terrible well, and in it is a well witch. Well, why is it strictly forbidden for her to climb into her parents’ bed, and the younger sister, as soon as she catches a cold, turns out to be right there, in her parents’ bed! The main theme of a series of picture books by Finnish writers Tove Appelgren and artist Salla Savolainen is how a child gradually learns to cope with the problems that inevitably arise in any family. But it is very important that in the large Vesta-Linnei family, not only children learn to adapt to the requirements of adults, but adults also show flexibility, overcoming difficulties together with children.
