ICONLUXE Facade Engineering is the world’s longest pleated glass facade. ICONLUXE is one of the areas in ICONSIAM where international luxury brands are located. The purpose of this façade design is to make the store look prestigious but in keeping with Thai tradition.
“Krathong” (Thai craft) is the inspiration behind the folding design. The architecture of the building uses glass as the main material to express the contrast between strength and softness. Each piece of glass, 17-24 meters long, is specially made and imported from Germany. Each piece has been designed in such a way that there is no support on the final façade to support its weight.
The most difficult component of the design was that each glass in it was beveled in different directions. The most important point here was the calculation of the force acting on each piece of glass, soil and the entire structure. The purpose of this clear glass structure is to reflect light and show off the beauty of the Chao Phraya River.
