Top 10 Rum Based Cocktails for February 23rd

On February 23, my friends and I decided to organize a pirate party. And what is a pirate without a traditional cocked hat, a jolly Roger parrot and a bottle of rum? Accessories and a parrot are ready.

It remains to buy alcohol. But my friends and I do not really like it in its purest form. Therefore, I made a selection of simple and beautiful cocktails for the holiday.

What kind of rum is better to take for cocktails

Rum is divided into 3 types:

  1. Light (eg Lamb’s). Relatively weak. The taste is soft, sweet, honey aroma. In cocktails, it is he who is most often used.
  2. Gold (for example, Captain Morgan). Beautiful color, with spicy-caramel flavor and vanilla-fruity aroma. It is drunk most often clean or with ice, but goes well with liqueurs, vermouth.
  3. Dark (for example, Captain Morgan). The strongest, with a clear “smoky” taste and a noticeable bitter aftertaste. In cocktails, if used, then only with light rum and in the absence of other alcohol.

Of course, for a cocktail you need to choose high-quality alcohol. Popular brands are:

  • The Golden;
  • Smuggling;
  • Attached Old Letter;
  • Bacardi;
  • Captain Morgan;
  • Havana Club;
  • Old Monk;
  • Zacapa;
  • Appleton Estate;

What dishes go well with rum cocktails

Since rum is a traditional “pirate” drink, it and cocktails based on it go well with all kinds of seafood – any kind of fish, shrimp, squid, more exotic inhabitants of the oceans.

Another good option is lean meat or chicken with spices.

If you want something lighter, quality cheese (without everything or with herbs, nuts) or any fruit will do. They can be sprinkled with cinnamon. Sweet tooth is not forbidden to “eat” ice cream, chocolate.
