Hydrangea was brought to Europe in the XNUMXth century, and England and France became the flagships in growing the species. Looking at a bouquet of hydrangeas, there is an association with French charm or English chic – it’s hard not to pay attention to these flowers!
Although hydrangeas look attractive, they have some kind of simplicity that catches. These flowers are devoid of pathos, they evoke a feeling of sincerity and kindness. There are many types of hydrangeas, but let’s focus on the 10 most beautiful.
10 Weems Red
Weems Red – a bright hydrangea, so it’s hard not to notice it. Captivating is not only the bright color (raspberry-burgundy), but also the aroma. Unlike relatives, Weems Red smells good. The species was bred by breeding in 2015. At first, the flowers are white, but as they develop, they turn pink, and closer to autumn they become bright burgundy.
Despite its relatively recent appearance, Weems Red has been rated very highly. The plant is notable for its low growth (it grows up to 1,5 m), the shoots open in breadth, which creates a stunning external effect! The species is quite frost-resistant – the plant is guaranteed to survive even at -30 degrees.
9. Vanilla Fries

If you take care of it correctly: water it, feed it with fertilizers, then the hydrangea gives a gorgeous flowering! Inflorescences are gradually colored and delight with their color. Vanilla Fraze is creamy white at first and then becomes a soft pink when the flowering period ends – the caps darken and turn crimson, the tops remain white. Panicled hydrangea (second name) with good care can live 50 years. The species was created in the Renault nursery – the work lasted from 1989 to 2003.

Another very important condition for the successful growth of hydrangeas is a suitable soil composition. The species loves fertile and acidic soil – this will have to be taken care of. It blooms in panicles, the length of which is up to 30 cm. The inflorescences are both white and cream, and pinkish appear in cold weather.
6. Anabel
Hydrangea Anabel – the most beautiful view, quite popular. It is frost-resistant, unpretentious in terms of care. The height of the bush can be 1,5 m, and the plant grows up to 3 m wide. Anabel has very beautiful leaves (up to 15 cm), which retain their decorative effect until late autumn.
Anabel is a long-liver, can grow up to 50 years or more. Does not need shelter in winter. Prefers abundant watering and acidic soil. For planting, it is better to choose a shaded place, because Anabel does not like direct sunlight. You can admire the view endlessly – it blooms with lush white balls, what a charm!
5. Pinky Winky
If there is space on your site, consider Pinky Winky for landing. The name, probably, many associate with some kind of Teletubbies – they are good guys, but have nothing to do with the plant. The species was bred in Belgium in 2003. Growing up, pleases the owners of the garden with its beautiful view!
Pinky Winky has large, beautiful inflorescences, consisting of fetal and sterile flowers. The flowers bloom white, gradually becoming purple-pink. Even in youth, the hydrangea impresses with its appearance. The leaves of the species are quite large and rough. The bush grows large about 2 m in height.
4. Kurinai
Hydrangea with an interesting name (it is also serrated) is an ornamental shrub reaching a length of 1,5 m. A species from Japan, translated means “crimson”, which is consistent with the appearance. At first, the inflorescences of the plant are white, and then acquire a crimson hue.
Kurinai has straight, strong shoots, oval leaves – in autumn they turn burgundy. Frost resistance at Kurinai high, withstands temperatures down to -24 degrees. But for safety net, it still needs to be covered. If you properly care for the view, then the plant will delight you for a long time!
3. Little Fresca
Type of hydrangea Little Fresca – new, was launched in 2019, but this hydrangea has already become popular. The bush after planting grows quickly, and when it grows up, it pleases with green-yellow lush inflorescences. Blooms until frost and changes color. This is a unique variety that all flower lovers want to see on their site.
The bush grows up to 80 cm, is 50 cm in diameter. The color is very beautiful from creamy white to light green. Gradually, the inflorescences become pale pink. The novelty turned out to be very successful! She was bred by the breeder Guido Ruwett, who worked for the Hoogenraad company in Holland for many years. He created plants that can be described as a work of art!
2. Vierle
Serrated hydrangea (aka Hydrangea serrata Veerle) is most notable for its color, which ranges from blue to pink. Vierle changes color depending on the composition and pH of the soil. Bluish and even blue flowers, for example, are obtained on acidic soil. If the soil is slightly alkaline, they become lilac or pink.
This species has good frost resistance (up to -24 degrees). Vierle begins to bloom in May and continues to do so until September. Over time, the bush takes on a spreading shape, the inflorescences include many small buds. The culture was brought from Japan and gradually became popular. Hybrid species appeared with different bud colors.
1. Limelight

At first, the inflorescences are green, but if the plant blooms on the sunny side, they become white or pale lemon. Closer to autumn they turn pink. And what a marvelous foliage this hydrangea has! Green, juicy, thick, so you still need to try to make out the shoots. Limelight is undemanding in care, but does not refuse abundant watering. For her, this is the most important thing.
