10 Crew
“Crew” is a Russian feature film that opens the top ten disaster films of 2016. The protagonist of the film, Alexei Gushchin, is a young pilot who does not recognize authority. It soon becomes known that an extraterrestrial civilization has prepared a fifth wave, which will completely destroy the survivors.

Progress does not stand still, and people manage to invent more and more super-complex intelligent machines that are able to independently perform any work. In the United States, the Echelon machine is being created, which manages in all states without human intervention. The electronic mechanism contains a huge number of programs that allow it to maintain complete control over everything. But one day the car breaks down and becomes beyond the control of a person in control. “Echelon”, capable of controlling weather conditions, is becoming a real threat to humanity.
7. In the heart of the sea
“In the Heart of the Sea” – a dramatic picture of 2016, based on real events. This tragic story happened in 1819, when the ship “Essex” with fishermen headed for whaling. Throughout the year, a successful hunt ends with a giant sperm whale attacking the ship. Crew members are forced to abandon the stricken ship. They land in boats and find themselves in the open ocean one on one with the harsh nature. For 100 days, the surviving sailors will have to wait for help from outside. But the lack of food during this time forces people to resort to cannibalism.

Twenty years ago, the US military, with the help of scientist David Levinson, managed to save the Earth from an alien invasion. During this time, the earthlings were well prepared to repulse the aliens in the event of a second attack. And now, two decades later, David Levinson is invited to a remote area, where they discover an alien ship that has crashed. The scientist immediately guesses about the insidious idea of the aliens who made a mistake on their first visit. They have returned to completely eliminate humanity and take over the earth. The fate of all earthlings again depends on Levinson and brave soldiers.

“Chernobyl: 30 years later” is a 2016 documentary about the global catastrophe that happened at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1985. The explosion of a nuclear reactor caused the death and exposure of several hundred thousand people. A year after the tragedy, a protective sarcophagus was erected to serve as an insulator for the radioactive unit. But years later, the shelter began to gradually collapse, and a new radioactive release began, maintaining a high level of infection. For several years, work has been underway to restore the sarcophagus, which is not known when they will be completed.

“Wave” is a 2016 Norwegian disaster film loosely based on a true story. The action of the picture takes place in one of the picturesque mountain towns in Norway. The most terrible fears of seismologists come true: there is a strong tectonic shift, which causes the collapse of the mountain range. This, in turn, causes a global tsunami that is rapidly heading towards the settlement. A siren signal is heard over the city to notify people of an impending disaster. In the center of the plot is the geologist Christian Aykord, who will face terrible natural disasters face to face.

A severe storm destroys nearby cities, and the Pendleton oil tanker is broken into two parts. The crew of the ship is trying to somehow cope with the emergency, but they can not do without outside help. The Coast Guard, in the midst of a rampage of nature, rushes to the tanker, risking their own lives.
