Too wet vagina: is it serious?

Vaginal lubrication is a natural mechanism that occurs when sexual arousal is at its peak. But in some women, this production of vaginal fluids is excessive. Where does this phenomenon come from and what are its consequences?

Vaginal secretions, what are they used for?

There are several types of vaginal secretions. On the one hand, those which are used to clean the vagina naturally, called cervical mucus, and which are produced daily and continuously. They are the ones that allow germs and dead cells to be evacuated by flowing down the vagina. And on the other hand, secretions linked to sexual arousal. These are the ones we are going to talk about. This lubricating vaginal lubrication is produced by glands called Bertholin’s glands, which are located in the labia minora on either side of the vagina. As their name suggests, they are used to lubricate the vagina.

The love juice, what is it?

The love juice is used to lubricate the vagina before intercourse, whether there is vaginal penetration or not. These are the hormones which, during the phase of sexual arousal, trigger lubrication, with a view to possible penetration. Indeed, these secretions are used to facilitate the comings and goings in the vagina, by preparing the area so that the movements “slide” better. They are made up of water, along with several other rather transparent fluids, which visually brings them closer to pre-seminal fluid in men. These secretions are acidic, and can have different textures, colors and odors.

Why are some vaginas more humid than others?

Sometimes women have the syndrome of excess vaginal lubrication. This means that before and during intercourse, they secrete too much vaginal fluid. Usually, this is due to a hormonal imbalance, either because of a thyroid problem, or in people with too high estrogen or prolactin levels. In fact, the glands produce a large amount of fluid, which makes it feel like “flooding” the vagina. Indeed, the main drawback of this excessive lubrication is that it can attenuate the sensations during penetrations, insofar as it alters the back-and-forth friction. This can reduce the pleasure felt during sex.

There are many reasons for “unusual” vaginal discharge. It could be:

  • violation of the microflora of the vagina;
  • inflammatory processes of the vulva, vagina or cervix caused by an absolutely pathogenic flora (the so-called STIs – gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, mycoplasma genitalium) or conditionally pathogenic microflora;
  • dermatoses in the vulva.

Unfortunately, quite often we meet the so-called mixed infections (or mixed), i.e. a combination of several pathogens, which leads to diagnostic difficulties and, as a result, an incorrect approach to treatment.

It is important to know that any “unusual” discharge from the genitals can lead to such serious complications as:

– tubal infertility;

– ectopic pregnancy;

– inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs;

– chronic pelvic pain;

– sexually acquired reactive arthritis;

– Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome (PID and perihepatitis);

– problems with conception and pregnancy (risk of spontaneous miscarriage, intra-amniotic infection, premature rupture of amniotic fluid, premature birth, low birth weight, postpartum complications)

– increased risk of developing oncological diseases of the pelvic organs.

Undoubtedly, the nature and severity of complications will depend on the cause of pathological discharge. That is why correct diagnosis is so important.

There are a number of methods for diagnosing pathological discharge from the genital tract.

It is very important to choose the right examination method and most often a combination of several methods is needed.

What to do in case of abundant vaginal lubrication?

A priori, there is no treatment or solution to directly address the concern of excess lubrication. On the other hand, it is possible to determine the cause of the hormonal imbalance if there is one, and thus to treat the problem at the source by consulting a doctor and informing him of your concern. You can possibly try to reduce the time of foreplay (kisses, caresses, etc.) before vaginal penetration, to prevent the secretions being too important during this one. On the other hand, in the case of cunnilingus, these secretions are inevitable, insofar as the arousal is constant. You can also take breaks during penetration to remove excess secretions with a clean cloth.

The reverse case: vaginal dryness

Vaginal dryness, or insufficient vaginal lubrication, affects many, especially after a certain age, or during menopause. Be careful, this is not a lack of excitement, but rather insufficient lubrication, due to secretions not present or not very abundant. This can make penetration painful, as the walls of the vagina are not or only slightly moistened and therefore lubricated. It is therefore recommended to use lubricants, which will replace the natural lubrication and ensure good vaginal preparation before intercourse. Likewise, it is advisable to consult a doctor to find the cause of this inconvenience, which can further promote the appearance of infections in the vagina.

Is there a relationship with the women of the fountains?

What is commonly called “squirting women” actually corresponds to a completely natural phenomenon which is female ejaculation. It is a physiological response to sexual stimulation, just like male ejaculation, which is more widely known. Not all women ejaculate, and researchers do not yet know why some do and others do not. However, it appears that female ejaculation takes place in the event of strong arousal, by stimulating the clitoris and the erogenous zones, during penetration or masturbation.

Treatment

The Internet is replete with a variety of candles, creams, gels, antibiotics and antimycotics, antiviral and anti-inflammatory drugs. Their selection is huge! Often, women, based on advertising or looking at search engines, prescribe themselves a local treatment for thrush, bacterial vaginosis; even worse – they start taking antibacterial drugs, not observing any rules in the dosage and regimen, douching, taking warm baths and using other “grandmother’s recipes”. Girls and women do not think that with such an approach to health they only harm themselves, aggravating the already difficult diagnosis of the causes of pathological discharge from the genital tract, and increase the risk of complications. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you do not self-medicate and consult a doctor as soon as possible.

We have already mentioned above that most often we have to deal with a combination of several pathogens and even various pathologies (bacterial vaginosis and candidal vaginitis, nonspecific cervicitis and bacterial vaginosis, etc.). Thus, in the treatment of pathological discharge from the genital tract, an integrated approach to the problem is fundamental. Most often, it is necessary to prescribe treatment in several stages, a combination of different groups of drugs, mandatory monitoring and preventive courses of treatment (under the strict supervision of the attending physician).

In our clinic, you will receive the full range of possible diagnostic methods, competent interpretation of the results of the study, a clear and intelligible explanation of the causes of the problem that has tormented you for so long. And most importantly, optimal and effective treatment, prevention of relapse and complications of “harmless”, at first glance, vaginal discharge.
