Too feminine look

Women are too critical of their appearance. Now there is scientific confirmation of this: scientists from University College London found that, on average, women see themselves as two-thirds fatter and one-third shorter than they really are.

The brain of women draws them a far from reality picture of their own body: most of them see themselves as two-thirds thicker and one-third shorter than they really are. Neuropsychologists from University College London asked the participants to hide their hand under a board and mark on it with dots the places where the phalanges or fingertips should be. As a result, the distance between the little finger and thumb on average turned out to be 70% more than the real one! The study also showed that the more a woman worries about her weight, the more her idea of her own body changes. “It’s good to be aware of this phenomenon,” says psychotherapist Gerard Apfeldorfer. “After all, when we manage to accept ourselves and our bodies as they are, we often begin to lose weight.”
