Tonal means today are produced in a variety of types and forms of release – from the usual tubes to the super popular cushions. Let’s try to understand this diversity.
What is foundation
Foundation is a cream containing tinting pigments, which usually serves to obtain an optical effect: it masks redness and imperfections, evens out skin tone and relief. In this case, the tool may contain various caring components.
Foundations are available in different formats
Foundation types
Below are the main types and forms of release of the most popular tonal products.
Foundation
A classic of the tonal genre and the most sought-after texture among consumers. Tonal creams are produced for different skin types, including problematic and mature.
Foundation Fluid
The light textured product is most often available in a dropper bottle and contains skin care oils. Designed tonal fluid, as a rule, for dry or sensitive skin.

Couchon
Perhaps the most fashionable tonal remedy on the beauty market today. The cushion was invented in Asia, and it got its name from the English word cushion – “cushion”. The cushion has a compound package with two compartments.
At the bottom is a tonal tool.
At the top is a sponge, with which the foundation is applied to the skin.
The “floors” are separated by a partition, but there is a message between them that allows you to dose the product onto the sponge.
VV-cream
The name of the product can be deciphered as Blemish Balm, which in English means “balm against imperfections.” In addition to toning the skin, BB cream has several other tasks: to hide redness, pimples, fine wrinkles, and also provide powerful hydration.
Moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and vitamins are usually added to the formula.
CC Cream
Unlike BB cream, its counterpart hides imperfections less willingly. The full name of this product is Color Corrector. Accordingly, its main purpose is to correct skin tone. The effect is achieved due to tint pigments and a complex of light-scattering particles in the composition.
Rules of application
Here are a few tips to keep in mind when applying foundation if you want to make your makeup last.
Before using the tone, apply a moisturizer: it will prepare the skin for makeup, smooth out roughness and provide a more even coverage.
A primer can also be used as a preparatory step.
How you apply foundation depends on your skin type and how much coverage you want. On dry skin tone is best applied with a flat brush. Oily skin is shown to be covered with a wet sponge with driving movements: this way the makeup will last longer than usual. Sponge provides the lightest coverage. A brush with a dense bristle will help to camouflage all the imperfections on the face.
Choosing foundation for different skin types
When choosing, consider your skin type, since modern tonal products have long turned into full-fledged cosmetic care products and may contain components for moisturizing, matting, nourishing, and even filling wrinkles.
For dry
Dry skin will be grateful for a foundation with nourishing and moisturizing ingredients. That is why BB creams are more suitable for her.
When choosing a tonal foundation, focus on texture
For oily
Even if you have oily skin, do not overdo it with matting – alcohol and talc in some matting agents absorb not only sebum, but also moisture from the epidermis. And this provokes increased production of sebum.
For combined
For combination skin, as well as for dry, BB-cream is ideal: it will moisturize dry areas, and areas prone to oiliness can then be lightly powdered.
How to choose a shade
Many women make the common mistake of choosing a foundation according to their complexion, forgetting about the neck. Why is it not necessary to do so?
Usually the face is lighter than the body by 1-1,5 tones, and if you like to sunbathe, this difference only increases. There is nothing wrong with the fact that the foundation will be slightly darker than the natural skin color of the face. The main thing is that after applying the tone, the neck and face are of the same shade.
If the vessels on the face are located close to the surface of the skin, its shade appears pinkish. This does not mean that the foundation should contain red pigment. On the contrary, it should be beige. Choosing a product with a cold pink undertone, you risk accentuating redness.
