Tomato (tomato) is a herbaceous plant of the Solanaceae genus, grown as a vegetable crop. Its homeland is South America, where wild varieties are still found to this day. The name “tomato” comes from the phrase “pomo d’oro”, which means “golden apple” in Italian.
