Features of planting and care

Tomatoes of the Bendrik Slivka variety are recommended to be cultivated in seedlings. The author himself plants tomatoes in two terms. This helps to extend the fruiting period.

Sowing seedlings

Sowing for seedlings is carried out in early April. If the gardener collected the seed material on his own, it should be checked in a solution of common salt. Those seeds that have settled to the bottom are suitable for sowing, empty specimens float to the surface.

Soil mixture is collected in low boxes. Pre-germinated seeds are laid out on the surface of the soil, stepping back 1-1,5 cm from each other. After that, the planting material is sprinkled with soil and moistened. The containers are covered with foil, put on the windowsill. On cloudy days, the seedlings are illuminated.

In the phase of 3-4 leaves, seedlings dive into separate containers. Bendrick is transplanted to a permanent place in mid-May. If there is a threat of frost, plantings are covered with a film or agrofiber. You should first harden the seedlings, taking them out into the street and increasing the time of stay every day.

Landing in open ground

Attention! Tomatoes are not recommended to be planted in those areas where nightshade used to grow.

Legumes are considered the best predecessors. In early May, before planting seedlings, the site is dug up, but organic fertilizers are not applied.

The author of the variety recommends leaving 25-30 cm between bushes, 100-120 cm between rows. In this span, Bendrik sows onions and carrots, which protect each other from flies. The aisles need to be mulched. To protect the plants from excessive moisture, at the end of the season, the protection is removed.

Watering

Alexander Nikolaevich refused to water tomato seedlings. He believes that evening irrigation of seedlings leads to late blight. The only watering that Bendrik performs is when planting seedlings in the ground. The tomato root itself will find moisture and take as much as it needs.

If at the time of ripening it rains heavily so that the fruits do not crack, the author of the variety recommends cutting off the lateral roots. Stepping back from the trunk 15 cm, it is necessary to drive a shovel into the ground to the entire depth of the bayonet. This should be done to the right and left of the main stem.

Pinching, garter

Bendrik’s cream is recommended to be grown in one stem. Stepchildren should be broken off every week, as they delay the ripening of the crop. It is better to break them off in the morning so that the wounds heal up until the evening. It is also necessary to remove 2-3 bottom sheets every week. By the end of the season, a few leaves should remain on the top of the bush.

Weeding, loosening

In regions with a dry climate, weeding is carried out every week. In areas where it often rains, loosen the soil after each rainfall.

Feeding

The author believes that overfed plants get sick more often, increase green mass to the detriment of the harvest. Bendrick does not recommend applying either organic or mineral fertilizers. Instead of top dressing, he uses green manure and mulch.

Pest and disease control

In rainy weather, in violation of agrotechnical standards, the variety may affect:

  • root rot (leads to wilting of the bush);
  • mosaic (appears on fruits with red and green spots);
  • brown rot (dark spots form on the shoots and leaves).

To prevent diseases in the greenhouse, you should regularly ventilate the room and observe the temperature regime. The disease should be fought with the use of fungicides Quadris, Ridomil, Fundazol.

Diseases are better to prevent than to cure. To stimulate the immune system, it is recommended to treat tomatoes with Mikohelp and Mikosan-V preparations. The gardener regulates the frequency of application himself, in accordance with the instructions. In regions where precipitation is frequent, processing is carried out every week.

Of the harmful insects, Bendrik’s Cream can suffer from aphids, thrips, bears, slugs. It is recommended to fight them with a solution of ground mustard or pepper. From the invasion of the Colorado potato beetle, insecticides are used.

Conclusion

Tomato Cream Bendrik is an unpretentious variety, the fruits of which are widely used in cooking. Tomatoes are suitable for growing on an industrial scale, since, in addition to high yields, they have good keeping quality and tolerate transportation well.

Reviews of gardeners about tomato Cream Bendrik

Alexander Dontsov, 54 years old, Rostov region
I have been growing the Bendrik Slivka variety for several years, cultivating it in open ground, everything suits me. Cream of medium size, dense, ideal for conservation and salting. Fruiting is extended. Most importantly, the bush and tomatoes do not suffer from late blight.
Victoria Menshikova, 67 years old, Moscow
I grow Bendrik’s cream under a film cover. I lead bushes in two stalks. The plant is practically plastered with fruits, they begin to ripen at the end of July. The yellow variety is sugary and sweet. We usually eat it in salads.
