Tomato Ultra-early: reviews, photos, yield

The desire of summer residents to harvest their own tomatoes as soon as possible is quite understandable. Therefore, it is not surprising that many gardeners experiment and plant different early tomato varieties all the time.

Variety description

Tomato Ultraearly – refers to varieties in which fruits appear approximately 70 days after seed germination. This variety is the result of the work of Siberian breeders. The main advantage of the Ultra-early tomato is that it grows well in any regions.

This variety is determinant and does not belong to hybrid varieties. Standard bushes grow in height by 50-60 cm. The shape of the fruit is round, and the weight of the tomato is approximately 100 g (as in the photo).

According to summer residents, with good care, you can collect up to 15 kg of fruit per square meter.

Tomato Ultraearly is highly resistant to many diseases. This variety is unpretentious and grows well both in the open area and in the greenhouse.

Housewives especially like that tomatoes do not crack during heat treatment. Therefore, this tomato is suitable for whole-fruit canning. Also, tomatoes of the Ultra-early ripening variety are great for fresh consumption.

Planting and care

When growing a tomato variety Ultrafast, both seedling and seedless planting methods are used. Of course, in order for the name to justify itself, it makes sense to use the seedling method:

  • in early March, the seeds germinate. For this, the grains are folded into a damp cloth and placed in a warm place for 4-5 days. The textile fabric is constantly moistened so that the seeds do not dry out;
  • the soil is poured into a specially prepared container, leveled and moistened. In order for the sprouts to be strong, it is advisable to use a special soil mixture for seedlings. On the surface of the earth, grooves are made with a depth of 1,5-2,5 cm, into which the seeds of Ultra-early ripening tomatoes are laid and covered with a thin layer of soil;
  • so that the soil does not dry out and a constant temperature is maintained, the container is covered with plastic wrap. It is not recommended to put the box in direct sunlight, as the seeds can simply “cook”;
  • when the first shoots appear, the film is removed and the containers are placed in a warm, bright place. When two leaves appear on the seedlings, they swoop down – they are seated in separate pots.

One and a half to two weeks before planting seedlings, they begin to harden it. To do this, the cups are taken out into the open air every day. Start hardening with a few minutes. Seedlings should be outdoors all day before planting.

Advice! The place for hardening is chosen protected from drafts and direct sunlight.

Seedlings of the Ultra-early ripening variety are planted in the garden plot in early June, when there is no longer any danger of sudden frosts and the earth warms up sufficiently.

For planting a tomato of the Ultra-early ripening variety, you can choose both sunny and shaded areas. But it must be admitted that in the shady areas the harvest ripens later. From soils, this variety prefers light fertile lands.

It is possible to form a planting of a tomato variety Ultra-early in the form of rows of holes or trenches. The last method is the most convenient for watering.

Growing in a greenhouse

If you equip a greenhouse, then the seedlings will receive additional protection. In this case, the planting of tomatoes of the Ultra-early ripening variety can be carried out earlier – approximately May 14-19.

In order for the seedlings to get used to the conditions of the greenhouse, the boxes with tomatoes are left under the film for two to three days. Moreover, it is desirable to open the film for a day.

Important! In the event of sudden frosts, the greenhouse can simply be covered with a thick sheet (blanket or bedspread).

Tomato bushes Ultra-early are planted in holes arranged in two rows. You can use the 35×35 cm scheme. In the aisles, a distance of 60-80 cm is kept.

There are a lot of options for arranging greenhouses. You can build stationary structures (from boards, glass doors) or mobile, temporary.

Important! When erecting permanent structures, it is necessary to plant varieties of tomato that will not create problems when caring.

Stages of building a greenhouse

You will need PVC pipes, spunbond with a density of 30kgkv. m, pegs.

  1. Drawstrings 50 cm wide are adjusted on a rectangular canvas in increments of 60-10 cm. Drawstrings should be placed parallel to the narrow side of the canvas.
  2. PVC pipes are threaded inside the drawstrings.
  3. Along the beds with tomatoes (on both sides), pegs are installed at distances equal to the distances between the drawstrings on the canvas.
  4. Pipes are bent and put on pegs.

Such a structure has a lot of advantages: the structure is easy to remove, it is easy to fold it and put away for long-term storage, all parts of the greenhouse can be simply replaced, the canvas is easily assembled in arcs (when you need to open the greenhouse).

After transplanting seedlings into a greenhouse, it is watered, and the soil is mulched so that a crust does not form on the surface of the earth. A week after transplantation, tomatoes of the Ultra-early ripening variety are treated with late blight agents.

Since tomatoes do not welcome high humidity and temperatures above +30 ˚ C, on hot sunny days the greenhouse should be slightly opened.

Advice! As soon as constant warm weather is established, it is advisable to completely remove the greenhouse.

Top dressing and watering

Two to three weeks after planting seedlings, it is recommended to fertilize for the first time. For top dressing, you can use the following solution: 10 g of nitrogen, 25 g of phosphate, 40 g of potash fertilizers are diluted in 15 liters of water. Approximately 0,5-0,6 liters of solution is poured under each bush.

For the following dressings, complex inorganic fertilizers are also used. Best of all, the Ultra-early ripening tomato responds to the application of potash fertilizers.

But you can also use organic. The easiest way: dilute one liter of manure in 10 liters of water. Let this solution brew for 10-13 days. To fertilize tomatoes of the Ultra-early ripening variety, it is necessary to dilute a liter of infusion with 10 liters of water and pour the final solution into the soil. For one bush, a liter of top dressing is enough.

Important! The periods of formation of ovaries and formation of fruits are the most important for top dressing.

When choosing an irrigation mode for the Ultra-early ripening variety, it must be borne in mind that tomatoes do not tolerate constant stagnation of moisture in the soil. Therefore, the best option is abundant, but infrequent watering. At the same time, it is important to take into account the climatic characteristics of the region.

When irrigating a tomato of the Ultra-early ripening variety, the general rules for irrigating tomatoes are applied:

  • water should not get on the stems and leaves;
  • in hot sunny weather, watering is carried out in the evening;
  • in cloudy weather, you can water the tomatoes at any time;
  • for irrigation it is desirable to use warm settled water;
  • drip system is the most acceptable irrigation option.

Tomato variety Ultra-early can be considered unpretentious and to get a good harvest, it is enough to regularly loosen the ground and weed weeds. In order not to damage the root system, it is necessary to loosen the ground near the trunks carefully. Periodically, bushes are also hilled.

Advice! Thanks to pinching the bushes, the yield of the Ultra-early ripening variety increases.

The Ultra-early tomato belongs to the standard varieties, which means that it is not necessary to tie up the bushes. However, according to summer residents, the supports protect tomatoes from falling during natural disasters (heavy rains or faiths). In addition, in cool areas, tying tomatoes provides airing of the bushes and protects against the appearance of late blight.

Pests and diseases

Variety Ultraearly practically does not suffer from diseases. The exception is late blight, which can occur with sudden changes in temperature and humidity. Therefore, when arranging greenhouses, it is necessary to carefully monitor the bushes, to prevent high humidity. For preventive purposes, it is recommended to spray the bushes with a solution of Bordeaux mixture.

Of the pests of tomatoes, the whitefly and the bear deserve attention. The appearance of the whitefly leads to the appearance of a special plaque on the tomatoes and the plant dies over time. To get rid of the whitefly, you can spray the bushes with Confidor, Mospilan, Akellik.

Tomato variety Ultra-early ripening is very undemanding and with minimal care gives a fairly good harvest. Therefore, even a novice gardener can plant such tomatoes and enjoy an early harvest.
