The gardening season has just ended. Some people are still eating the last tomatoes they picked from their garden. Only a few months will pass and the time will come to sow new seedlings. Already, many gardeners are thinking about what varieties of tomatoes they will sow next year. Why only varieties? All foreign countries have long switched to tomato hybrids, and they are harvesting large crops of tomatoes.
What to plant: variety or hybrid
Many gardeners believe that:
- hybrid road seeds;
- the taste of hybrids leaves much to be desired;
- hybrids require careful care.
There is some rational grain in all this, but let’s look at everything in order.
On the question of the high cost of seeds. When buying tomato seeds, by the way, they are not so cheap, we often take a “pig in a poke”, as regrading is becoming more common. Many gardeners can recall a situation when not strong plants, but frail sprouts grew out of a colorful bag of tomato seeds. The time for reseeding the seeds has already been lost, in the season the purchased tomato seedlings are expensive, so you have to plant what has grown. And in the end – a greenhouse or greenhouse with a small number of tomatoes that do not match the variety. The forces that the gardener invested in obtaining a significant harvest were wasted.
You can also argue about the bad taste of hybrid tomatoes. Yes, old hybrids are more beautiful and transportable than tasty. But breeders bring out new hybrid tomatoes every year, constantly improving their taste. Among their wide variety, it is quite possible to find those that will not disappoint.
On the subject of care. Of course, varietal tomatoes can “forgive” gardeners some care errors, and hybrids show the maximum yield potential only with a high agricultural background. But for such results, it is not a pity and work hard, especially if there is confidence in a guaranteed harvest. And this is possible when the seeds are purchased from a manufacturer with a consistently high reputation, such as the Japanese company Kitano Seeds. Its motto: “New technologies for a new result” is justified by the high quality of the produced and sold planting material. Among its seeds there are many hybrid tomatoes, in particular, the seeds of the Asvon f1 tomato, the photo and description of which are presented below.
Description and characteristics of the hybrid
Tomato Asvon f1 is not included in the State Register of Agricultural Achievements, as it has not yet been tested. But he already has a lot of positive feedback from those who have tried it on their sites. Tomato Asvon f1 is intended for cultivation in open ground and greenhouses.
Asvon f1 hybrid bushes are determinant low, do not grow above 45 cm, compact. They do not require formation, therefore they do not stepchild. Despite its small size, the growth force of the Asvon f1 hybrid is great. The bush is well leafy. In the south, Asvon f1 hybrid fruits are not threatened by sunburn, as they are safely hidden in the foliage.
More information about growing Asvon f1 tomato in the Krasnodar Territory can be viewed on the video:
Tomato Asvon f1 has early ripening, the first fruits can be harvested after 95 days from germination. In cool summers, this period is extended to 100 days. The fruiting of the Asvon f1 hybrid is long, since the bush is able to form up to 100 tomatoes. Hence the highest yield – up to 1 ton per hundred square meters.
The fruits of the Asvon f1 hybrid have a small weight – from 70 to 90 g. They have an oval-round shape and a bright rich red color. All fruits of the hybrid are uniform, do not shrink during fruiting. The dense skin does not allow them to crack even with a sharp change in soil moisture.
The content of solids in the dense pulp of Asvon f1 hybrid fruits is very high – up to 6%, which allows not only to transport them over long distances without loss of quality, but also to prepare excellent tomato paste. They are especially good, canned whole. Asvon f1 tomato has a pleasant pulp texture, a balanced content of acids and sugars, it makes delicious salads. The juice from this hybrid tomato is very thick. Tomato Asvon f1 is also well suited for drying.
Like all tomato hybrids, Aswon f1 has great vitality, so it tolerates heat and drought well, continuing to set fruits and not reducing their size. Tomato Asvon f1 is resistant to bacterial, verticillium and fusarium wilt, is not subject to root and top rot, as well as bacterial spotting of fruits.
To get the harvest that is declared by the manufacturer, you must follow all the rules for caring for the Asvon f1 tomato.
Peculiarities of growing
The tomato harvest begins with seedlings. In the middle lane and to the north, you can’t do without it. In the southern regions, the Asvon f1 hybrid is grown by sowing in open ground, filling the early production market with its fruits.
Growing seedlings
On sale there are processed and unprocessed, but necessarily polished tomato seeds Asvon f1. In the first case, they are immediately sown dry. In the second, you will have to work hard and hold them for 0,5 hours in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, rinse and soak for 18 hours in a biostimulant solution. In this capacity, Epin, Humat, aloe juice diluted in half with water can act.
The soil mixture for sowing Asvon f1 tomato seeds should be loose and fertile, well saturated with air and moisture. A mixture of sand and humus, taken in equal parts, will do. A glass of ash is added to each bucket of the mixture. Moisten the soil before sowing.
If it is decided to grow Asvon f1 tomatoes without picking, they plant 2 seeds in each individual pot or cassette. An extra seedling after germination is not pulled out, but carefully cut into a stump. For dive seedlings, seeds are sown in a container to a depth of about 2 cm and at the same distance from each other.
In order for the Asvon f1 hybrid seeds to germinate quickly and amicably, the container with them must be warm. The easiest way is to put a plastic bag on it and put it near the battery.
As soon as the first loops of seedlings appear, put the containers on the windowsill. There should be not only light, but also cool, then the seedlings will not stretch out, they will grow stocky and strong. After 3-5 days, the temperature is slightly increased and maintained at 20 degrees during the day and 17 degrees at night.
The grown seedlings with 2 real leaves dive into separate cups, trying to pinch the central root a little, but to save the side roots as much as possible.
Asvon f1 hybrid tomato seedlings grow rapidly and are ready for planting in 35-40 days. During growth, it is fed 1-2 times with a weak solution of complex mineral fertilizer.
Asvon f1 tomato seedlings are planted when the soil temperature is at least 15 degrees. Before planting, it should be hardened for a week, taking it out into fresh air and gradually increasing the time spent on the street.
Further Care
To return the maximum yield, the Asvon f1 tomato hybrid needs fertile soil. It has been prepared since autumn, seasoned well with humus and phosphate and potash fertilizers.
Planted seedlings will need regular watering, which once a decade is combined with top dressing with complex mineral fertilizers, which necessarily contain trace elements. After each watering, it is advisable to loosen the soil to a depth of no more than 5 cm. So it will be saturated with air, and the tomato roots will not be disturbed. The Asvon f1 hybrid does not need to be formed. In the middle lane and to the north, the bush is lightened, removing the lower leaves to give more sun to the formed fruits on the lower brush. In the south, this procedure is not needed.
Tomato Asvon f1 combines all the best properties of hybrids and at the same time has the taste of real varietal tomatoes. This industrial tomato will not only be a godsend for farms. He will delight amateur gardeners and gardeners with an excellent harvest and good taste of fruits.
