Salad with cheese, tomatoes and apples

Salad with melted cheese and tomatoes

Processed cheese is considered by many to be a cheap, unpretentious product that is little associated with real culinary delights. Meanwhile, there are many original, memorable dishes, where this ingredient coexists with the signature ingredients of festive salads. For example, you can confidently mix melted cheese and red fish.

For this recipe you will need:

– fillet of lightly salted red fish (250-300 g); – large red tomatoes (6–7 pcs.); – processed cheese (3 packs of 90 g); – chicken eggs (4 pcs.); – garlic (1 clove); – mayonnaise (to taste).

Cut the lightly salted red fish fillets into medium-sized cubes, toss with the tomato and egg slices and a little minced garlic. Season all salad ingredients with mayonnaise. Top with a mixture of grated processed cheese and a small amount of finely chopped eggs. It is recommended to decorate the festive dish with figurines of mushrooms from eggs (“legs”) and tomatoes (“caps”). Mayonnaise will make nice white spots on the mushrooms.

If you are not very fond of the taste of purchased processed cheese, you can successfully replace it with the original homemade version. To prepare it, grind a pound of low-fat cottage cheese with a pinch of baking soda and let the resulting mixture stand at room temperature (1 hour). After that, add 100 g of softened butter, a raw egg, grated garlic and chopped herbs to taste. It remains to thoroughly grind the resulting mass and cook it over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the contents of the pan are completely melted. Allow the homemade melted cheese to freeze in the refrigerator, after which it can be used for salads.
