On January 1, Toledo will premiere the Spanish capital of Gastronomy of the year 2016
Cáceres gives the witness to the “Imperial city“, Which already housed the Illustrious Carlos I of Spain and V of Germany in that glorious time, and now it returns from the hand of what is most fashionable, with permission from other sectors, the Spanish gastronomy.
A few days ago, the news was released, in the Fernán Núñez Palace in Madrid, that left the Andalusian city of Huelva at the gates. The jury’s decision, which deliberated with intensity and good taste, definitely opted for Toledo, for uniting 3 very important pillars worthy of highlighting:
- Its exquisite and varied gastronomy
- Commemoration of the 30th anniversary of its declaration as a World Heritage City.
- Celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes.
The Spanish Capital of Gastronomy is an initiative of the Spanish Federation of Hospitality (FEHR) and the Spanish Federation of Tourism Journalists and Writers (FEPET) And as in the previous edition, of the Spanish capital of gastronomy, the city is already beginning to prepare all its planned activities within the candidacy, which will now become a reality.
The main figures of the international kitchen, and more specifically the only two establishments of hostelry Toledo residents who hold the distinctions of the Michelin Star, Pepe Rodríguez and Iván Cerdeño, They have already celebrated the designation, boasting of the great opportunity that it means for the entire hospitality and tourism sector, to make the entire province known from the culinary prisms as well as its culture.
Toledo, much more than Architecture
The orchard, hunting, livestock or sweets are already a clear opportunity for restoration when offering their products and their elaborations, in the different opportunities that will arise within the events that are scheduled for the designation.
A kitchen that collects millenary heritages from the Roman, Visigothic and Sephardic culture, perfectly blending the best of each elaboration with the excellent raw materials of the area.
A unique opportunity also for the excellent wines of the land, which, protected by a too generic denomination of origin, clearly stand out when knowing their farms and estates, compared to other national fermented wines, seeking their place in the national and international wine scene.
A clear reference is what has been developed for years at Finca Loranque, an excellent winery that not only set its sights on the wine, excellent on the other hand, but also knew how to promote leisure activities and wine production, based on the incredible staging of its rooms, lounges, winery, vineyard and restaurant.
Since the XNUMXth century, when the farm was owned by the Counts of Floridablanca and was exploited as a hunting, agricultural and livestock farm, until today, where events, tastings and wine tourism days, it has not stopped being surpassed.
So much so that in the latest editions of the popular television series “Tell me how it happened”, The barrels and vineyards of the “Alcántará” television stations were shot in the interior and exterior of this spectacular Royal setting, which is Finca Loranque.
