The Tokyo subway is the world’s largest in terms of the number of passengers carried, with 10 million people using its services every day.
And one of the busiest lines is Tozai. About 8 people gather here every day from 9 to 70000 am. The metro management has come up with an interesting way to deal with the morning crowds. The earliest passengers will be offered a free lunch.
Tokyo metro management hopes that this will reduce the number of people in the morning rush hour: the most rational people will use the subway early, receive their quickness bonus and free up space for the next passengers.
To take advantage of the free lunch, you will need to register on the site and receive the corresponding coupon. One of the conditions is that you need to be early risers for 10 days in a row.
Interestingly, the more people take part in this social project, the more benefits they will receive. According to the rules, upon registration in the system of 2000 passengers, lunch will be a free portion of tempura. And if there are 2500 participants, passengers will receive free noodles. But if the number of registered people exceeds 3000, everyone will be able to count on both tempura and noodles.
Did you know that
In the Tokyo subway, special people work to help passengers squeeze into filled to overflow carriages – the axle.
The Tokyo Metro consists of the lines of the two independent companies Tokyo Metro and Toei. The two networks are completely separate. To transfer from the line of one operator to the line of another, you need to buy a second ticket or a special ticket with the possibility of transfer. Only passengers with PASMO electronic transport cards, a Common One-day Ticket and a single Tokyo Combination Ticket can safely travel on all lines.
We will remind, earlier we talked about the opening of a market and a restaurant in the Paris metro.
