The dog covered the baby while the rescuers broke through to them.

The curly-haired baby named Polo was not just a pet, he was a member of the family. Erica Poremski, his owner, even jokingly called the dog her oldest child. Polo, as befits an elder, took care of the younger: Erica and her husband, Steve Moni, had a daughter not so long ago. Vivian was eight months old and got along well with Polo. But the parents did not even imagine how friendly the dog and the child were, until tragedy struck.

How it all began, no one understood. Firefighters sin on gas leaks. But everything happened with lightning speed. Erica went out for a minute to pick up the bag she had forgotten in the car. And when she turned around, her house was on fire, and on the second floor in her room her little daughter was sobbing. The neighbors, seeing the glow in the windows, ran out to see what had happened. The picture was terrible: a woman with a burnt face and hands was trying to break into a house engulfed in flames. Unsuccessfully…

Only firefighters managed to enter the house. They rushed straight to the second floor, where little Vivian remained. It took some time to find the child. Through the thick smoke, the rescuers did not immediately see where the baby was. Vivian was no longer crying, and the firefighters did not even expect to find her alive. But … a miracle happened. The girl was alive.

A miracle is not a coincidence that allowed the baby to survive. Vivian saved Polo, her “older brother”. The dog covered the girl, protecting her from the fire. Therefore, the baby was saved, although she received serious burns. The treatment required a lot of money, but they managed to collect it – thanks to donations on the Internet. So it ended well. But not for Polo. The doggie did not wait for the rescuers alive. The firefighters did not even take his little body out of the burned down house.

“He died as a hero. – Vivian’s mother was crying and could not stop. – Polo always followed me if I left the house. This time he stayed with V. My brave little dog. “
