Tired of the usual tinctures and mash, I decided to use strawberries: I share 3 simple recipes for strawberry liqueur

Having bought a moonshine, I realized that now my hobby will be the production of various tinctures, liqueurs, drinks and cognacs. Believe me, I don’t even have time to drink them. I’m just tasting, so to speak.

Once I tried to make a liqueur on strawberries. Strawberries are my favorite berry. If under socialism it was possible to get it only in your own garden plot, now you can buy it at any time, fresh, frozen, and even dried. This is what inspired me to try and experiment.

The story was sent by a longtime blog subscriber Alexander.

What ingredients and equipment will be needed

Tinctures can be made from any type of alcohol:

  • vodka;
  • moonshine;
  • raw alcohol.

Since I have my own moonshine, I tried to make tincture with my own moonshine and vodka.

Your moonshine.

To obtain a sweet tincture, in addition to strawberries, you will need granulated sugar.

There are several cooking methods and I have tried them all.

The cooking process

Depending on what kind of drink I want to get as a result, I tested three methods of preparation:

  1. The berries are completely filled with vodka in a jar with a large neck. Vodka (moonshine) should cover the berries by more than 3 cm. As a result, I got vodka with strawberry flavor. Not a very festive drink, but it is more pleasant to drink than just vodka.
  2. First, I pour 1 kg of granulated sugar into a three-liter jar, then put strawberries cut or pierced with a fork on top and then pour vodka (moonshine). I insist one month. Then I filter the drink through a regular filter jug like Aquaphor. It turns out a more feminine, sweet drink, tincture. It’s already a holiday.
  3. First, I prepare sugar syrup – 100 grams of sugar per liter of water. I put the chopped strawberries into the hot syrup and boil for 5 minutes. This allows you to extract more flavor from the berries and further infuse the liquor faster. Then I pour the finished mixture into a three-liter jar and add it to the brim with vodka (moonshine). The result is a tincture with a strength of 25-30 degrees. I usually pass this tincture simply through gauze, and not through a filter. It turns out to be thicker and more degree than the second.

Infusion of strawberries with sugar.

What will be the result

I like the third version of the tincture more because it is stronger than the second. The taste of vodka or moonshine completely disappears in the product, it becomes viscous. Sometimes it can even be added to pure vodka already in a glass, as the consistency is similar to syrup.

As usual, sometimes you want to add additional flavors to the liqueur – lemon, cinnamon, cloves, dried fruits. I’ve tried different tinctures, but most of the time I like the original taste of a strong drink with strawberries. So I don’t add anything else.

Infusion in a bottle.

If we talk about frozen strawberries, I must say that the drink from it is obtained with a less intense taste. The difference between the liqueur on frozen strawberries and the usual one is just as accurate as the taste of frozen strawberries compared to fresh ones.

If I’m making frozen strawberry liqueur, I only use the sugar syrup recipe.

How to serve and with what to use tincture

If you like to skip 50 grams of a delicious drink several times a week, then the first recipe, without adding sugar, will be the best.

For a festive table, for example, for the New Year, the tincture made according to the second recipe is best suited. Especially if you do not dissolve all the sugar that is put in the jar.

To get stronger drinks, I add no more than 10% of the liqueur obtained according to the third recipe to a glass of vodka or alcohol. This is the flavor I like the most. And my wife likes a drink with a lower degree and more sweet.
