Tips to Make Your Kitchen Look More Expensive: Kitchen Renovation

Kitchen renovation is always expensive. After all, even standard furniture costs crazy money for her. It’s a shame if the result is typical and boring. But there are ways to make the kitchen look luxurious.

Elaine Griffin, one of the most famous American designers, knows how to save money on the interior of the kitchen, but not deprive it of luxury. In her opinion, almost all kitchen sets (regardless of price) are very similar to each other, so it is definitely not worth spending a fortune on them. However, during the repair, important little things still pop up, which many do not pay attention to, and they then reduce the cost of the look of the “heart of the house”.

1. Arrange the furniture correctly

Nothing is more important in the kitchen than proper zoning. According to Elaine Griffin, the working triangle, which is measured by the distance between the stove, sink and refrigerator, should be as short as possible.

And one more important rule (although there are exceptions): the refrigerator should be located closer to the front door. Why? Because often we are only interested in him in the kitchen – we looked in and went back to the room.

Cabinets that leave a lot of space up to the ceiling look sad and cheap. “The taller the cabinet, the better!” – says Elaine Griffith. And he adds that it is not only beautiful, but also convenient: the higher the cabinet, the more shelves, the more shelves, the more you can put in it. But there are nuances: you will have to think over how to conduct a ventilation pipe from the hood, and provide well, very strong fasteners for the lockers.

3. Don’t skimp on a kitchen apron

You can buy cheap furniture and utensils (no one will notice), but not a kitchen apron! Cheap materials will definitely give out your economy both in appearance and quality. According to Elaine Griffin, the design of the apron is the best way to express the individuality of the hostess. In addition, it can be not only made of tiles, there are at least five beautiful and not too ruinous options.

Hardware means a lot. Cheap pens that will peel off at the first contact with a damp cloth, or are so flimsy that they will not last even six months – this is very common. If you simply replace the fittings, the appearance of the facades can be radically changed.

Decor details are just as important in the kitchen as accessories are for your look. They are pleasing to the eye and give a complete look. So do not neglect beautiful vases, unusual paintings, interesting drawings on furniture.

Do you think no one is looking at the ceiling in the kitchen? Even how they look. Lighting is very important, and there should be several sources of light: at the sink, above the work table and above the dining room. The main thing is not to turn the room into a Christmas tree. Let there be, for example, three lamps: under the ceiling, above the work table and stove, above the sink. For this, both spotlights and ordinary pendant lamps are suitable.

6. Choose the right materials

What to make the floor in the kitchen from so that you will not regret it later is not an idle question. There is a special microclimate here, you have to take this into account when choosing a coating. Laminate, for example, is very sensitive to moisture, just like parquet. And linoleum is just ugly. Elaine Griffin advises making the floor the same as in the rest of the apartment if you want to create an open-space effect. And if your goal is luxury, then your choice is diagonally laid tiles.

7. Buy an expensive sink and mixer

A cheap sink and mixer won’t last long. Having saved on them, you will then overpay twice or three times, either for repairs, or for new ones. So it’s better to spend it once and for all. Plus, a cheap tap is always visible. Better to invest in a fashionable brass one than to change a Chinese masterpiece every year.

We’ve also put together a whole gallery of examples of how not to do it. Such a kitchen interior, as in the photo below, is able to fight off your appetite forever.
