Therefore, we offer you recipes for viburnum tinctures in alcohol and moonshine, as a worthy way to process and consume these healthy berries.
For medicinal purposes, the drink is made very concentrated and drunk in 1-2 tablespoons. per day with meals. They say it lowers blood pressure and flushes the kidneys. The most useful “concentrate” is viburnum on cognac with honey. But such a drink is not suitable for plentiful libations. You can’t even call it a drink – for 0,5 liters of cognac there is 1 kg of honey and 0,5 kg of viburnum berries (there is something similar on vodka). Concentrate in general.
For libations, it is better to prepare homemade viburnum tincture with alcohol or moonshine, the recipes of which are given below. Tincture of viburnum on alcohol “East-West”
This recipe was found on the moonshiners forum forum.homedistiller.ru. It can be used as a good “double” moonshine, and alcohol, diluted to 40-45%. Cognac and vodka are also welcome. To prepare about 750 ml of tincture you will need:
- 1/5-1/4 part 1 liter jar of viburnum berries
- 20 kedrovykh reshkov
- 1 pinch of anise seeds
- 0,7-0,75 ml alcohol/moonshine 40-45%
- 1 tbsp sugar syrup
For viburnum tinctures, it is better to use frozen berries – bitterness leaves them. That is why viburnum tincture can be prepared all year round. Also, the berries can be slightly dried in the oven.
Rinse viburnum berries under running water and dry on a napkin. Pour them into a liter jar to make 1/5 or 1/4 of the volume of the jar. Add nuts and anise, and then pour everything to the top with good moonshine or alcohol. It is better to close the jar not with a plastic or iron lid, but with a notebook sheet, fixed with an ordinary rubber band for money. You need to insist for 2 weeks, not forgetting to stir the mixture every day. After 2 weeks, the viburnum tincture must be filtered and 1 tbsp added to it. simple sugar syrup.
After the drink must be defended for 2-4 weeks and bottled. The tincture is well clarified. In all respects, that is, in taste, aroma and color, it turns out a magnificent, drinkable aperitif. Instead of red viburnum, you can use pitted cherries or black currants, but it is with viburnum that it turns out right.
Tincture of viburnum on moonshine “Vitamin Assorted”
Warming spices and sea buckthorn are added to this tincture – another source of vitamins and other benefits. A good recipe for enthusiast moonshiners who have a large stock of sorting.
- 250 g viburnum berries
- 250 g sea buckthorn berries
- 5 tbsp sugar (equivalent to honey)
- 3 button Gvozdik
- 5 peas allspice
- 10 black peppercorns or a mixture of peppers
- 5 l moonshine 55%
Rinse and dry the berries, pour into a bottle of the appropriate volume. Add spices and sugar, mix roughly with a spoon so that some of the berries choke. Leave at room temperature for 3 days so that the berries give juice and ferment a little. They need to be stirred a couple of times a day to keep them from getting moldy.
Fermented berries should be poured with 5 liters of 55% moonshine of double distillation and leave the drink to infuse for 1 month in a dark, cool place. Then the tincture must be filtered, filtered through a cotton filter and bottled.
Healing tincture of viburnum on moonshine from the Urals
It is believed that this tincture was invented in the Urals. How it really happened is hard to say. I was not there. I would not recommend it for copious libations, but I recommend it for medicinal purposes. Literally 30-50 ml, if you have a cold, and that’s it. Again, sea buckthorn is added, but in smaller quantities – the berry is difficult to filter later due to its oiliness.

Wash and dry the viburnum, put it in a jar, do not compact. Pour all this with moonshine so that it covers the berries. Put for 24 hours in a dark cool place. Then add pepper and leave for another 24 hours. Finally, add sea buckthorn and leave the drink in this form to infuse for 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, strain and pour into a decanter. Drink only in small quantities.
It is believed that viburnum tinctures have a tonic effect, promote the healing of stomach ulcers, and effectively fight sore throats. It is also known for certain that viburnum tincture gently washes stones and sand from the kidneys. But this is all true only under one condition: you need to know the measure in everything. Personally, I am skeptical about the judgments that alcohol can produce a positive effect (with rare exceptions) when it comes to ordinary booze with a lot of this very alcohol. So know the measure!
