This is always possible for his lyrical hero, who sits sad and unshaven somewhere in Konkovo, washing down his love longing with various alcoholic drinks. In the 1990s, the poems “Toots” and “When Lenin was small” worked as a true antidepressant, now comic Christian lyrics come to the rescue. A mysterious glow was always visible in Kibir’s poems, but now the unobtrusively moralistic statement has become more pointed: “Deism has a lot of reasons, Theism has no reason at all! But through the darkness of these reasons, the light is barely visible!
