The head, arms or legs are permanent places on the body that most people check right after returning from the forest. If they don’t find the tick there, they think they’re safe now. This is a serious mistake! There are still quite unobvious places that many people miss when checking their body, and ticks can also stick in there. So what should you pay special attention to?
- Due to warm winters in Poland, we deal with ticks practically all year round. It is worth remembering that we are exposed to meeting them not only in forests or in meadows and clearings. They also appear in cities
- There are some typical places on the body where ticks like to stick best. This includes armpits, groin or head
- There are also some rather non-obvious places that many people miss when checking if an arachnid has stuck into their body. For example, ticks can even bite into the tongue and inside the mouth. And that’s just the beginning of the list

The season for ticks has started earlier in Poland for several years. Until recently, it was the turn of April and May (it ended in late autumn). However, due to warm winters, the season for ticks can last practically all year roundas our animals often find out. Experts assume that the peak of their annual activity falls in May-June and September-October.

Ticks – where are they?
Where are ticks most often found? Virtually wherever there is even a piece of lawn. These arachnids like tall grass and places with a lot of deciduous trees. It is worth remembering that we are exposed to meeting them not only in forests or in meadows and clearings outside the city. They are also found in city parks, in the vicinity of rivers, on squares, and even in home gardens.
Contrary to popular belief, ticks do not live on trees (and do not fall from them on people), they cannot fly or jump. The bloodsucking arachnid passes onto the host during direct contact, i.e. rubbing against the leaf on which it is sitting with a part of the body.

Unusual places on the body where ticks can stick. Check them out especially for children
There are also some quite unusual places that many people miss when checking if an arachnid has stuck into their body. This is a serious mistake! As shown by numerous cases, ticks can bite into quite surprising places. And this should always be remembered.
First, little bloodsuckers can stick around the ear (usually behind or underneath). But that’s not all. There are also cases (and not at all uncommon) that ticks bite Inside cribwhich makes them even more difficult to discover.
Another unusual place where we can find them is language. Such cases are much more common in children than in adults. Removing the tick from this area of the body should be extremely careful. What’s more, ticks are able to bite not only the tongue, but also the entire inside of the mouth.
The third unusual area on the body that ticks like is toes. Most often they “attack” the spaces between them. Therefore, it is also necessary to check these places, especially in children and people who like to walk barefoot.
The fourth place hardly anyone expects a tick is belly button. At this point, however, it is quite difficult to spot it, so when checking it, it is worth paying a little more attention to it.
