Tialorid is a preparation with diuretic properties. It consists of two active substances: hydrochlorothiazide and amiloride. The latter saves potassium in the body, which is flushed out when urinating. At the same time, it increases the excretion of sodium and chlorine ions. Hydrochlorothiazide in turn increases the volume of water excreted, but also the excretion of sodium (as the previous component). The active ingredients also cause vasodilation and reduce vascular resistance. The diuretic effect appears about 2 hours after taking it and may last up to 12 hours.
The use of thialoride
Tialorid is used in the presence of mild or moderate arterial hypertension, with congestive heart failure or with the problem of liver cirrhosis. The drop in blood pressure is observed a few days after starting the drug.
Contraindications with the use of thialoride
Be careful with the application tialoridebecause there are many contraindications. One of them is an allergy to the composition tialoride. Others include hyperkalemia, elevated serum calcium levels, high blood urea and creatinine levels, renal or hepatic failure, diabetes, diabetic nephropathy, Addison’s disease or anuria. It is very important to pay attention to the fact that tialorid cannot be used with the simultaneous use of lithium and agents that save potassium or supplement the diet with potassium ions. Another one a contraindication is pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tialoride should not be taken by children. Caution should be exercised in many cases as the use of tialoride may increase the level of potassium in the blood, which in turn leads to abnormal heart rhythm. Elderly people, those with renal insufficiency and diabetes, should be especially careful, because they are at increased risk of developing hyperkalemia. If this happens, see a doctor immediately and arrange it dosage or discontinue use.
Tialorid it can also lead to water and electrolyte imbalances and electrolyte deficiency, so you need to monitor their level on an ongoing basis. The disturbance of the water and electrolyte balance is evidenced by increased thirst, dry mouth, drowsiness, weakness, muscle pain and cramps, hypotension, increased heart rate or vomiting.
