Thyroid problems are a very common ailment, especially among women. Thyroid hormones regulate many functions of various organs of the body, so keeping them at the right level is crucial for keeping the body in balance. Thyrozol is a preparation whose main task is the conservative treatment of hyperthyroidism. The active ingredient in this medicine is thiamazole, which inhibits the excess production of thyroid hormones by the thyroid gland.
Indications for the use of the preparation
An indication for the application of the preparation Thyrozol there is treatment for the thyroid gland when levels of thyroid hormones are too high.
This preparation is mainly used in preparation for surgery in all forms of hyperthyroidism and in thyroid crisis. Thyrozol may play an important role in controlling the level of thyroid hormones, especially before the scheduled examination with the use of a contrast agent, when iodine is used, which stimulates the thyroid gland to synthesize hormones.
Thyrozol – contraindications to use
When using the drug, it is worth referring to the doctor who will determine it dose. It is not recommended to use the drug in the case of significant enlargement of the thyroid gland with symptoms of pressure on the trachea, and if the person is allergic to the active substance or any substance contained in the drug. It should not be used in people with changes in the peripheral blood picture (granulocytopenia), cholestasis present before the start of treatment not caused by hyperthyroidism, previously existing bone marrow damage after treatment with thiamazole or carbimazole. Combination treatment with thiamazole and thyroid hormones is contraindicated during pregnancy. The given preparation contains lactose, therefore its use by people who are intolerant to galactose may cause more problems in the body.

They can also occur with an increased dose of the drug. If you are pregnant, tell your doctor, as it may occur in the first months of pregnancy the risk of endangering the health of the child, especially if the preparation was used simultaneously with thyroid hormones. Your doctor may reduce your dose to reduce this risk.
Thyrozol – dosage
Ordinary dose place Thyrozol is 10 to 40 mg daily in adults. It is not recommended for use by children under 2 years of age. In some cases, when there is a risk of overproducing thyroid hormone, your doctor may recommend that you take a smaller one doses drug.
