Recurring thrush

What can recurrent thrush mean, and how to treat it? ~ Joanna

Recurrent thrush can occur in people who are immunocompromised, often take antibiotic therapy, in people with excessive dry mouth, in newborns, and in patients wearing dentures. Proper oral care is very important in treatment, especially cleaning dentures and taking them out at night. Often, topical antifungal preparations are used, in the form of sprays, gels or rinses, and supplementary preparations of B vitamins. In some severe and extensive cases, short-term oral treatment with anti-yeast preparations may be used.
