Moscow wants to revive the system of commission trading, which was so popular in the 80s.
Thrift stores in Moscow
The Department of Consumer Market and Services has developed an Anti-Crisis Program of Priority Actions in the Consumer Market and Services of the City of Moscow, which provides for an increase in the number of commission shops in each administrative district.
Earlier, in order to combat the crisis, it was proposed to open at least ten flea markets, where poor people and pensioners could trade for free. However, this idea was soon abandoned. Now the possibility of reviving consignment shops is being considered. It is planned that at least two additional commission shops will be opened in each district of Moscow. In theory, the crisis should provoke an increase in the number of customers who want to bail out some money for unnecessary things, and buy the necessary ones at a low price. In addition to clothing and footwear, commission shops are ready to take on commission crystal, carpets, household appliances, furniture, dishes, watches, figurines, paintings, musical instruments, and so on. However, whether this will lead to a revival of commission trading and its popularity in the 80s is hard to say.
In addition, it is not known whether they will be able to withstand the competition from second-hand stores and numerous online flea markets.
Information:
Acceptance of goods in thrift stores takes place according to the following scheme. The commission office accepts goods for sale from individuals and takes 30-50% of the cost of the goods for services, which is added to its price. The price at which the goods will be displayed is negotiated by the seller with the store’s admissions office. If it seems overpriced to the store employees, it will be advised to reduce it to real values. If the seller refuses to do this, the goods will be exhibited at his price, but the seller must be prepared for a possible decrease.
The product must be sold in the first 20-25 days. If this does not happen, a markdown is made. The first markdown is usually 15-20%. Further price reductions will be carried out once a month – 30%, or even 50%. A few days after the purchase of the goods, the seller receives money in his hands. The thrift store accepts the goods for a specified period, after which the item is removed from sale and returned to the owner. If the item is expensive, the thrift store will ask you to pay for its storage (as a rule, this amount does not exceed 5% per month).
