Three coffees … and that’s it

Black coffee protects against depression, Harvard scientists found.

A morning cup of black coffee is a great antidepressant, especially for women. A study led by Harvard nutritionist Alberto Ascherio found that those who drink three cups a day are less likely to be depressed than those who limit themselves to one or no coffee at all. An important point: this effect, of course, is not in the decaffeinated drink, which affects the areas of our brain responsible for mood … and excessive consumption of coffee increases anxiety *.
