Three Bears

“Three Bears” is a national brand of beer, which was developed specifically for Russian customers by the Dutch company Heineken, one of the leaders in the world beer production. The representative office of the company has been operating in Russia since 2002. The brand is represented in all regions of the country and makes up a quarter of the total sales of Heineken products in Russia.

History and features of production

Beer “Three Bears” was created in 1999 at the Kaliningrad brewery. The German specialist Hans Rutger, one of the company’s leading technologists, worked on the recipe. A distinctive feature of Heineken products is the use of only natural ingredients: malt, yeast, hops and water.

Changes in taste are achieved by using different proportions of ingredients and changing temperatures during the production of beer wort. In the production of the Three Bears brand, two types of malt are used – burnt and light, which are brought to the factories from Russian suppliers. Raw materials undergo strict quality control upon receipt. Enterprises use their own yeast grown in special chambers.

Fermentation takes from 6 to 8 days depending on the variety. After the end of the process, the young beer is cooled to a temperature of +3 °C, the sediment is removed and left for a period of at least two weeks. Before bottling, the finished product is passed through kieselguhr filters filled with sedimentary rock from the remains of diatoms. The output is a perfectly transparent drink without any foreign inclusions and sediment.

Before entering the bottling shop, the beer undergoes pasteurization, which allows you to keep the freshness of the drink for a long time. Production laboratories analyze the quality of the product in terms of microbiological and chemical indicators. “Three Bears” is produced at all seven plants of the Heineken United Breweries, equipped with modern equipment.

Interesting Facts

The independent non-profit organization Roskachestvo conducted a study of the Three Bears beer and found no preservatives or harmful substances in it. The experts concluded that only natural ingredients are used in the manufacture of the drink. The tasting characteristics of the product amounted to 5,05 points.

In 2010, the company changed the design of the packaging, making it more premium. The bottles have got a long neck and embossing, and a gold frame has been added to the label.

Types of beer “Three Bears”

Three Bears Light, 4,7%

A traditional bottom-fermented lager with 11,5% gravity. The beer is brewed according to an improved recipe from malt, malting barley and natural granulated hops. The drink is characterized by a refreshing taste with a slight bitterness and a rich aroma.

Three Bears Classic, 4,5%

The variety is made on the basis of hop products, which is why the drink acquires moderate bitterness. Beer rich amber color with a pronounced malt flavor. The foam is homogeneous with small bubbles, the aroma is hoppy. The extractivity of the initial wort is 12%.

Three Bears Special, 4,7%

The recipe was developed in order to give the drink the taste of real live beer from the barrel. The absence of filtration allows you to save the maximum amount of useful trace elements, and pasteurization extends the shelf life. Beer golden-amber color with malt aroma, taste – balanced, with a slight bitterness. Density – 11%.

Three bears Crystal, 4,3%

In the production of this variety, 100% natural hops are used. Before filtering, the drink is cooled to -1°C, so that the beer acquires a soft and balanced taste. Pale lager with a gravity of 10%, a pronounced vegetable-hop aroma and a slight sweetness on the finish.
