“This is a real threat to each of us”: Dmitry Medvedev addressed the Russians in connection with the coronavirus

The situation with the coronavirus is getting worse and worse every day, so yesterday Sergei Sobyanin announced a general self-isolation regime for all Muscovites and residents of the Moscow region. Shortly thereafter, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev addressed the Russians.

Dmitry Anatolyevich said that all the necessary measures are being taken in Russia to prevent the spread of the infection.

“Now it may seem to someone that what is happening is some kind of game, a movie, like such a Hollywood thriller. But this is not a game at all. More than half a million people in the world have fallen ill. Unfortunately, what is happening now is a real threat to each of us and to the entire human civilization, ”Medvedev said.

Moreover, the former Prime Minister stressed that the country could introduce even tougher measures if the situation with COVID-19 does not develop according to a favorable scenario. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and stay at home during the non-working week. 

Medvedev also urged everyone to prepare for different scenarios for the development of the situation with the spread of coronavirus.

Recall that the self-isolation regime, which was announced on the evening of March 29, implies that Muscovites and residents of the Moscow region are prohibited from leaving their apartments. Exceptions are special cases: walking pets, buying food and medicine.

In Russia, 1 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered, of which more than half are in Moscow – 534 people.
