“This gynecologist is a monster, not a human” [LETTER TO EDITOR]

– The gynecologist said that there is no way to examine me because I have too much fat on my stomach – Magdalena wrote in a letter to the editorial office of MedTvoiLokona. Unfortunately, this is another example of Polish women hearing words that should never be uttered in gynecologists’ offices.

What do Polish women hear from gynecologists?

«I read your article on inhuman gynecologists. I experienced it myself.

I wanted to do the test, I haven’t been there for a long time, because there is still something. I found a doctor with a fairly short term. I think to myself: ok, cool. What I didn’t expect was that the quick deadline was due to the fact that it is a monster, not a human.

Before I describe the whole situation, I need to add two things. First of all, I am not a slim person, I have my shape and a bit on my stomach. Second, I belong to this lucky pool of women who do not “die” for a period, but just occupy it with very profuse bleeding.

I entered the office, the interview began. I tell him that I am not the kind of woman who has a sore period, but I am bleeding profusely and wonder if this is a problem. The doctor tells me that women don’t want to get tested, that it’s a problem, that this, that that. Dry, mean.

I went to the armchair. He stated that there was no way to test me because I had too much fat on my stomach. Then he said I should have an ultrasound and I would be given some hormone pills. I asked if such drugs would change my appearance, in the sense of letting me grow even bigger. He shouted at me that it was the women from the countryside who asked such questions, and not those from the city, that the “under-educated” only thought so.

I left the office and told the ladies from registration that I would never come back here because the doctor was very unpleasant. I said the same to the woman in the waiting room. I went outside, I reached the bus stop, I also met a woman from the waiting room. She looked at me that I was shaky. I cried when I told her what had happened.

Fortunately, my friend recommended her gynecologist-obstetrician to me. He normally examined me, sent me to an ultrasound for a more complete picture. He listened to what happened to me.

He commented that he hoped I wouldn’t have that opinion of him.

Now I have found a wonderful and knowledgeable doctor with a great deal of empathy and patience, explaining specific issues. And the examination revealed that heavy bleeding is not a problem, as the monster suggested, but just my beauty. »
