Data from the United Kingdom shows that in January 2022 there was an increase in the number of people reporting this symptom while being infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Some of the cases were related to the Omikron COVID-19 variant.
According to researchers, diarrhea often appears on the first day of infection and worsens over the next week. It usually lasts an average of two to three days, but in adults it can even be up to seven days, the ZOE team said.
