PSYchology

Like any process, your thinking needs to be adjusted. Not everyone likes to think, not all thinking is good, sometimes thinking is harmful.

Do you ever need to switch off your thinking? The technique of stopping the internal dialogue has its supporters, but well-placed thinking is usually a joy, not a hindrance.

Often there is an opinion that the head interferes with feelings, that the use of schemes kills spontaneity and direct experience. This is not entirely true, much depends on the quality of the schemes, the level of their development and the tasks facing the person. See the article Are schemas getting in the way of feeling?

A developed person knows how to control his thinking. There are many tasks for such management: you need to be able to turn on your head in time, be able to think sometime more positively, sometime more constructively, follow the logic of your thoughts, be able to use special thinking formulas to solve certain situations, and sometimes it’s better to turn off your head altogether .

Managing one’s own thinking is connected both with the development of thinking itself and with the development of other higher mental functions, primarily with the development of attention and will.

For example, how to get rid of annoying thoughts? If good annoying thoughts revolve around the right one and revolve correctly, there is no need to get rid of them. Probably, we are talking about the fact that annoying thoughts are empty, stupid and negative, right? It may be self-blame, it may be a desire to take revenge on someone, it may be a memory of grievances, it may just be a stupid catchy song … Then you don’t need to waste time and effort to get rid of these thoughts. Instead, it’s useful:

  1. Internally decide how to think about what stupid or negative thoughts are spinning about: positively, constructively, responsibly.
  2. Occupy yourself with the right thing, thoughts will go there.
  3. Start humming something upbeat and upbeat to create the right positive backdrop.

And soon everything will be great!
