Trisomy 21: children pose under the lens of Julie Willson
“I’m one of those lucky people who grew up with a sister who had Down’s syndrome. Dina was the best thing that could have ever happened to our family. She taught us what true unconditional love is and how to walk through life without worries. Dina died of heart failure at the age of 21 when her life expectancy did not exceed the age of 35. It is with these words that Julie Willson, a young American photographer, paid tribute to her sister on her Facebook page. Since starting photography, Julie Willson has always been keen to photograph children with Down syndrome.. Today she is publishing a magnificent series of photos to show the beauty and joy of these different children and above all to make the greatest number aware of this handicap which is not inevitable. “I would like to change minds. Show parents who are preparing to welcome a child with Down’s syndrome that nothing is more beautiful and that they will be blessed. If you are that person who is going on an “emotional roller coaster” because your child has Down syndrome, know that you are about to meet a love that exceeds all of your expectations. ”
