Who should be vaccinated against COVID-19?
«The Minister of Health, taking into account the recommendations of the Team for Protective Vaccinations and the temporary guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (as of March 31, 2022), informs that people vaccinated prior to hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) or CAR-T therapy subject to the repetition of the vaccination scheme against COVID-19 after ≥3 months (12 weeks) from the indicated treatments or therapies »- we read in the announcement of the head of the Ministry of Health.
As added, this group of patients uses mRNA preparations against COVID-19, ie Comirnata (Pfizer-BioNTech) or Spikevax (Moderna).

For the youngest (up to two years of age) transplant patients or those who are still receiving immunosuppressants, the primary COVID-19 immunization schedule is three doses.
In general, the revaccination schedule is to be administered from the age of five. Importantly, children aged 12 and over who received a booster dose after 28 days, and the next one, i.e. the fourth one, may not receive the booster dose until five months later.
Additional information provided by the Ministry of Health shows that doses of COVID-19 vaccine should be administered at least two weeks before starting or resuming immunosuppressive therapy. “The timing of vaccination against COVID-19 should take into account the current or planned immunosuppressive treatment, as well as the clinical condition of the patient” – said.
At the same time, it was emphasized that serological tests to assess the response to vaccination before administration of the vaccine are not recommended.

What can I do to get a vaccination referral?
Patients who have undergone haematopoietic cell transplantation or CAR-T therapy must contact their physician who will issue a referral for vaccination.
A referral for vaccination entitles the patient to register the date only at the vaccination point. When registering re-vaccination, a new Vaccination Card is created, which will allow you to enter the data that will be registered in the system.
At the vaccination point, written information from the attending physician will be absolutely required. It must include a recommendation to repeat vaccinations after the withdrawal period from the above-mentioned treatments.
