Almost immediately after the withdrawal of the self-isolation regime, many started talking about a new wave of coronavirus that would begin in the fall. Many countries have already introduced new restrictions, and Russians are anxiously awaiting news from the government.
The COVID-19 infection curve is going up, Russia even entered the top 10 countries for new patients with the virus.
Meanwhile, scientists continue to prepare for the mass vaccination of Russians. Director of the Gamaleya Center, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Gintsburg considers this to be the only way to stop the spread of the disease.
According to the expert, the coronavirus will torment us all until a sufficient level of herd immunity is developed in society. And this takes a lot of time – at least for the production of the required amount of vaccine.
“Until we are vaccinated at a good population level, unfortunately, there will be a second, third, and 10th wave,” Gunzburg said in the Dok-Tok program on Channel One.
Alexander Leonidovich noted that it will take about a year for the global immunization of Russians – and then only if there is enough capacity to produce 5-6 million doses of the drug per month.
